Suggestions for day trips from Boston in January?

Quigster asked:

Any great ideas for something to do or somewhere cool to visit for a day or possibly two over the long weekend this January? Anywhere within driving distance of Boston would be an option.
I’m trying to plan a trip for a group in their mid 20s. One of the girls hurt her foot so skiing or anything like that is out.

Plimouth Plantation is good any time of the year. Sturbridge Village is another possibility. Cape Cod should be deserted and easy to get into all the shops that are swarming with tourists during the summer.
