Where is the best 3 day weekend vacation leaving from Los Angeles?

Obviously time is of the essence with a weekend getaway. Although I would love to go to Hawaii, a 6 or 7 hour flight each way would kill our trip. I’m looking for something no more than 3 or 4 hours travel from Los Angeles. Also this is for my wife’s birthday, leaving the kids with the grandparents, and midweek is possible.
